One of the most remarkable features of the Luxor Creek outfitting area is its complete isolation and wilderness flavor; yet we are only a three-hour drive from Calgary.  From either of our two base camp lodges, our clients are only a 15-minute hike or horseback ride into some of the most spectacular scenery to be seen in the Canadian Rockies, and some of the richest big game habitat remaining to be found in North America.

This is Trophy Hunting at its finest!

     Every year, Luxor Creek Out-
fitters provides opportunities to hunt a wide variety of the species found in British Columbia.  This begins with black bear and grizzly hunts in the spring.  During the fall we offer hunts for elk, Shiras moose, big-
horn sheep, mule deer, whitetail deer, mountain goats, black bear and wolves.  Hunting continues into the late fall and winter with cougar, lynx, and bobcat.  Our hunting philosophy is to minimize hunting pressure, while maximizing hunter experience.  You will see big game at Luxor Creek, not other hunters.

Our best trophy hunting is in the extreme backcountry, and available only to our most physically fit hunters.  It is not uncommon for our most success-
ful hunters to be on their feet all day, in conditions of extreme weather and topography.  Our guides are in awesome physical

shape, and they know the country.  They are dedicated to getting you the game you seek.

The extreme backcountry hunters usually pack their personal gear into re-
mote spike camps, supplied by pack animals, then "coyote camp" from the spike camp one to two nights at a time in areas where pack animals do not go.  Elevations from the base camps to

the highest alpine ridges (where the finest trophy animals are usually found), range from approximately 4,000 to 8,000 feet.  The secret to comfort here is to layer clothes, and the new synthetics combined with wool are hard to beat.

Other day hunts are available from the base camps into highly productive areas where "glassing / stalking" hunts often yield high numbers of elk, deer, and goats.

We have two main base camps; Kindersley Creek and Lower Quinn Creek.  Both lodges have fully-equipped kitchens, generous sleeping quarters, and hot showers.  Private rooms are available upon request.

A typical day will begin before dawn with coffee, tea, juice, and a light breakfast.  Sack lunches will be provided, with input on quantities and special requests graciously taken.  You and your guide (one hunter and one guide, unless you and a buddy want to team with one guide) will leave for your hunting area, which can change daily based upon sign and guide / hunter preference.  As a note, we do not allow hunting from vehicles.  The trucks and quads are only used to transport you into your pre-selected hunting area, and to bring back your game.

You will hunt all day and usually come back to camp just before or just after dark.  Dinner is usually served around 7:30-8:30pm, leaving sufficient time for those hunters who so desire to make the 30-minute drive to Radium Hot Springs from our Kindersley Creek Base Camp.  All of our remote and spike camps have a cold plunge near camp that is not as popular as the relaxing hot springs, but just as refreshing.  All meals are provided, and you will love the food.

Depending on the weather, which can dramatically
fluctuate in the mountains of British Columbia, the
hunter needs to be prepared.  The following is a list
of gear taken to Canada by Dr. Carothers for his
October and November mule deer hunts.  Almost all of
Dr. Carothers' gear has been purchased from Cabela's.
